Years ago before I got into the medical field and knew nothing about health care in general, I had already had chronic back pain for years. It started in 9th grade! Little did I know that my right sacroiliac joint was displaced during a football game in 7th grade. I felt the injury but you know how it goes—shack it off and stop being a wimp! Two years latter I started having back problems that plagued me through sports and work. It wasn’t until recently when I received an acupuncture treatment that I realized the right sacroiliac joint was the problem.
I had seen many chiropractors and a very good osteopath throughout the years and not one of them noticed this little problem. Doesn’t say a lot for them, does it?
So how did acupuncture diagnose the problem? If you get a good treatment it should re-align the energetic system, right? Well, it does but you have to have the right type of acupuncture. Anyways, I got the right type and a good point that re-aligned, or tried to, the energetic system of my right hip. What happened was, I got the treatment then about a week later I felt achy in my right SI joint. Each day it got worse. Within two weeks it was killing me; however, I felt great other than that. The thing was, the treatment did exactly what it was supposed to do but no one knew that my right SI joint was so messed up.
It was very interesting to see how this style of acupuncture not only treated many issues but brought to the surface deep underlying hidden issues. Not only can acupuncture treat lower back pain but it can help diagnose hidden issues that experts overlooked for 20 years!
This is a major advantage of having a good acupuncturist; however, that isn’t as easy to find as one would think. Please checkout my article on choosing an acupuncturist for info about that.
All in all I’m very happy to know what issue is causing all my lower back pain. Now I just need to find a good practitioner that can address the SI joint. Yeah, I know. . . a chiropractor. Well, if that were the case the on of the dozen or so I’ve seen would have solved the problem in the past 20 years, right? If you know of someone that can fix this problem in Colorado please let me know!
